Well, it was a whirlwind trip to Vinalhaven. We left Saturday morning, stopped off at the Montsweag flea market–where a cellarman corkscrew was found–and then made it to the boat for the 1 o’clock crossing. Given that we had a bit of time to kill before we loaded on, I hit the antique mall in Rockland where I came away with a flash corkscrew and a small grouping of openers including one of those lithograph tin types for Harvard Ale. Not a bad score, especially since the dealer had 20% off!
Upon reaching the island, we headed up to the house and settled in. Fish tacos with fresh flounder for dinner. YUM!
It was a quick trip, but the lovely and I figured out how we can be up several more weekends in the coming months before our week long stay. Truly a magical place.
On a corkscrew note, the crosby pup has been sold!!! And, the guys arrive tonight for tomorrow’s Brimfield.
