a corkscrew

So, the lovely and I are in Boston for a few days to celebrate our 16th anniversary–tomorrow night we will be seeing John Legend! Pictures to follow…

And, on our way down from Maine, we stopped at a large retailer–which shall remain nameless–and an antique dealer was walking out, as we were walking in. She remarked that she had a corkscrew for me; she believed the miniature corkscrew to be a salesman sample. She went on to describe the corkscrew to me, and it was intriguing. I promised to swing by when I got a chance…

As it happened, today was that chance, so I hopped in the mini, and headed to her shop. Could this be an actual salesman sample?

When I arrived we exchanged pleasantries, and then she pulled the corkscrew out of a drawer…

Not the rarity that I had hoped, and not a salesman sample as far as I can tell. It looks more like a simple wire corkscrew to which someone attached a metal handle. Still, I bought the piece, as she wasn’t asking much. She has found others for me in the past, and we definitely like antique dealers who look for corkscrews!!! (and then call me when they find them).

After the corkscrew excursion, the lovely and I went out for a walk and grabbed a pint and a glass.

(sorry for the picture quality, they were taken with my iphone).

John Legend tomorrow night, and then the Union Antiques Show in Union, Maine on Saturday!

news of the show and corkscrew finds to follow…
