Brimfield Day 1

For some reason, I woke up early this morning–even before the 3:30 am alarm. And, searching for coffee, I got ready for the first morning of Brimfield, and headed out the door.

Grabbing two cups of coffee from the hotel lobby, I hopped in the xterra, and hit the road. Before I knew it, I was 3 cups in, a mile or so away, and it was still pitch black out. Apparently, the sun wasn’t going to rise for a while.

After a brief iPhone snipe setting session, the parking opened, and I got myself parked and armed with a flashlight, backpack, and moneyclip started the day’s adventures.

It wasn’t long before there was a BT sighting. However, whilst he slipped in to one booth, I scurried along and managed to find a nice little folding bow corkscrew. Ordinarily, I would have passed on the little bow, but this one is interesting. It is marked, albeit faintly, BREVETE S.G.D.G. It is indeed hard to make out, and I left my loupe on the island. Still, the marking does make it a much more interesting little corkscrew.

After the bow, I wandered off. Waiting for more vendors to wake up and open. It was about this time that I picked up a 5 dollar Clough marked Williamson. And, then the sun began to shine.

I don’t think the 5 dollar purchase had anything to do with it, but perhaps it wasn’t a coincidence.

As I made my way through the aisles, I picked up a handsome direct pull corkscrew that is signed with a bear on the shaft. "A bear?" you ask. Yes, a bear.

Then came a lovely little peg and worm.

And, then…

A bone handled sheath corkscrew.

This was followed by a pair of ladies legs, a tiny german perfume, and a can opener which I promptly sold to an antiques dealer for 10 times my purchase price. Always a nice event to sell something by walking it across the field.

Also, whilst traipsing around the dealers’ stalls, I checked my iPhone to find out that the snipe I had set procured a lovely little Walker Button corkscrew. Interestingly, I was the only bidder on the lot, and I got the thing for a whopping $ 2.99!

To top this off, BT and I are talking trade. And, Barry, Marty, and I are having dinner this evening together…we shall see if the trade happens. News of this to follow.

All in all, a nice first morning at Brimfield. And, who knows what tomorrow will bring!

Below, you will see the pictures of today’s haul.
