A week back, or so, there was an interesting corkscrew listed on eBay.uk with a nice BIN price of £50. It looked familiar, but there were no mention of markings etc.
I decided to take a chance on it, and snapped it up.
Now, from the photo, it looked to be a 1905 Kummer “Meteor.” But, the condition also looked a bit rough. Grimy, rusty, pitted, and who knows what else.
It arrived yesterday, and the condition was much better than expected.
And, with a little cleaning the rust, grime, etc., suddenly had begun to disappear. And, it is indeed a Meteor, and it is indeed marked.
Interestingly, this example is marked twice on one pillar with the DRGM 263041 number–on the opposite it is stamped METEOR.
And, best of all, it works perfectly!
