Yesterday, an eBay lot ended that within it contained a Davis patent corkscrew with advertising–and brewery advertising at that.
I had been watching the lot over the course of the week, and did throw out a fairly decent bid. Not that I really need another Davis corkscrew, and truth be told, I already have an example of this particular advertisement “COMPLIMENTS OF PABST BREWING CO. MILWAUKEE.” The big difference being, that the one that I have has a knife blade as well, while this one was the standard Davis.
Here is a shot of the marking on the one that was on eBay–it was in a little rough shape.
Another one to look for!
Here are the advertisements that we know about that appear on the Davis (the bolded ones are from my collection, those in italics are ones that I don’t yet have from the JFO Handbook, and then there are still a few more–in regular font–from Barry Taylor’s collection)

If you have Davis, Detroit, or Puddefoot corkscrews with advertising, feel free to drop me a line. Even if it is just to add your advertising example to the list.

On another corkscrew note, I am putting the finishing touches on the next issue of The Bottle Scrue Times, and hopefully this will get to the printer next week. I am awaiting a few bits from a couple of Addicts, but it is coming together quite nicely.
